The NDAHA Player Development Program is a four-season, six-year player development process for ages 13 to 18, which includes a variety of training opportunities, teams and competitive events. The North Dakota Player Development Program is committed to providing all players, boys and girls, with the opportunity to learn, train, compete, and ultimately DEVELOP. Our program, which is constantly being evaluated and improved to meet our current players’ needs, is presently a commitment that runs year-round. Players who commit to the program are provided with opportunities to train and compete IN ADDITION to their regular season teams.
All North Dakota youth hockey players are encouraged to become involved with the North Dakota Player Development Program. The Player Development Program operates under the basic premise that players in North Dakota have the ability to play at their highest level, whether that is for their high school team or for the USA Olympic Team. Our coaches are dedicated to providing a platform for all players to maximize their potential.
The NDAHA Player Development Program IS NOT for everyone. It IS NOT in competition with any organization or team in the state or region. Participants in the Player Development Program ARE NOT pre-picked.
The Player Development Program is open to ALL players and coaches. The Program WANTS to work in concert with ALL organizations in the district. Its goal is to provide a challenging and competitive environment which will afford short-term enrichment and long-term development for each player. The NDAHA Player Development Program uses a player’s entire body of work as the criteria to be evaluated and identified for select opportunities. With few exceptions ("e.g." participation in a school sport) opportunities to tryout or participate with North Dakota Player Development Teams or Camps are for NDAHA Player Development program participants.
While the NDAHA Player Development Program’s primary purpose is to develop players we certainly have an interest in the development of our state coaches, which will ultimately afford more player development. We will be offering coach development and education opportunities with our player development camps and teams.
All of our camps, teams and programs are budgeted to break even as NDAHA is a non-profit organization. The participant fees charged at each event are to cover the costs of operating the program for the current season. Any net income is used to fund affiliate community Grow the Game opportunities such as "Give Hockey A Try" and "Learn to Skate" events.
