Officiating Youth Hockey
Referees are needed in all sports and hockey is no exception. Youth hockey officials receive training and certification from USA Hockey. Being a hockey official is a rewarding way to enjoy the game.
NOTE - Concerning Official's Registration
If an individual is not on the spreadsheet does not mean they are not registered. They may be from another state or just completed their registration. They still need their card and crest. Let the State Supervisor know so they can be added.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE CHECKING GAME SHEETS
THE LEAGUES ARE GETTING SEVERAL GAMES SHEET THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REVIEWED PROPERLY BY THE REFEREES.
A CHECKING FROM BEHIND IS A MINOR (2 MINUTES) ON ONE LINE AND A MISCONDUCT (10 MINUTES) ON THE NEXT LINE. IF IT IS HEAD FIRST IT IS 5 MINUTES PLUS A GAME MISCONDUCT - ON 2 SEPARATE LINES
SAME WITH A PENALTY PLUS A MISCONDUCT OR GAME MISCONDUCT.
CHECK THE CALLS - THERE WAS A BUTT END WRITTEN DOWN WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ELBOW. WE ARE GETTING PAID TO DO THIS RIGHT! BLAMING THE SCOREKEEPERS WILL NOT CUT IT.
ALSO, WRITE YOUR NAME SO WE CAN READ IT ALONG WITH YOUR USA NUMBER.
